ABOUT US |
3Ps was established in 2005 by Roger Newton and Jo Maguire. Roger Newton has over 15 years specialist expertise in Participatory Appraisal techniques. His work has included involving communities in large scale regeneration projects, audience participation in lottery funding bids, and participatory video projects with excluded young people. Roger teaches introductory and advanced participatory approaches for Northumbria University and designs bespoke courses for statutory and voluntary organisations. Roger comes from a background of senior management in the voluntary sector. He is a member of the National Steering Group of Participatory Practitioners for Change. Jo Maguire has been working with participatory approaches for the last 10 years, as a consultant and trainer. She is also an architect and particularly interested in participation in planning, regeneration and the built environment. Jo has an MSc in Planning and Development and has worked in Jamaica and Tanzania as well as the UK. 3Ps also have three Associates that work with them on larger and specialist projects: Lucy Barker, Ross Mowbray and Sarah Greenlees. |
HOW WE WORK 3Ps use visual and interactive methods that allow everyone to participate and have their say, irrespective of age, background or ability. Our work is based on the ideas that people are experts in their own situation, their knowledge and experience should be respected, and they should have the opportunity to actively participate in developments that affect them. As well as helping improve participation at public meetings, we also work in other ways, consulting people in places they usually go to or meet in. We recognise that many groups of people never have a voice in ‘normal’ consultations, and our methods ensure that they too are asked, in an accessible and non-threatening way. We use visual and creative participatory techniques built up over many years of experience for: |
